SEZ Alabuga and KORUS Consulting Automated Key Processes of the Largest Logistics Complex in Russia in 4 Months
SEZ Alabuga in cooperation with KORUS Consulting Group implemented a project to automate the largest logistics complex in the Russian Federation. In the shortest possible time, warehouse operations and a container site were automated using 1C programme. The project also involved KONCRIT logistics platform: based on the IT solution, specialists established a functional process to manage the yard and developed a system for interacting with customers of the logistics complex from scratch. The architecture of an integrated solution allowed in a short time to create a holistic information space for monitoring and managing activities of the complex, as well as form the basis for further business growth.
SEZ Alabuga is implementing a project to build the largest logistics terminal in Russia. Warehouses for various purposes will be located on an area of 100,000 m2 to ensure the processing of goods and materials, including oversized cargo requiring special storage and different temperature conditions.
The length of the container site is more than 1000 meters, which allows to handle entire container trains without additional manipulations. To manage processes at the terminal of this scale, a complex of modern IT systems is needed that can withstand handling daily heavy loads and provide a high level of service for major customers.
SEZ Alabuga chose KORUS Consulting Group as its IT partner, which has been working with Russian and international logistics automation systems since 2006. To implement the project, KORUS Consulting experts proposed an integrated approach to automation, covering all stages - from designing the target architecture to development, implementation and further evolution of systems.
Due to well-coordinated work of KORUS Consulting and One Belt and One Road Logistics Company, a complex of IT systems with the minimum necessary functional process for starting was introduced by the scheduled date - the end of October 2024. In just 4 months, the specialists implemented a set of systems: WMS, TOS, YMS as well as corporate information system 3PL. The integrated perimeter also includes 1C: Document Management. It acts as a provider of customer data and contractual terms with them. At the start, it was important to ensure seamless and end-to-end work: from accepting a client's application to placement and shipment. The process was implemented due to a well-thought-out architecture - all systems operate in a common framework through a single data bus structure. This allows to maintain customer product cards, manage tariffs and services, register requests from customers in 3PL, and process requests in terminal operating system (TOS), warehouse management system (WMS) and yard management system (YMS). Data of the actual requests’ fulfillment is "returned" from these systems to 3PL.
To meet set deadlines, it was decided to develop all four systems in parallel. For this purpose, KORUS Consulting gathered four teams and acted as a general contractor to coordinate their work and ensure synchronization of all decisions. Parallel development allowed to speed up the process and achieve effective integration of systems at all levels. To speed up development, a ready-made YMS solution based on KONCRIT was utilized. When creating a customer interaction system, specialists also used KONCRIT as a development platform. This approach significantly accelerated the implementation of the functional process of this solution, which was critical for the timely launch of the complex.
With completion of construction and start of operation of the logistics complex, further expansion and optimization of its IT infrastructure is envisaged. This means adding new function modules and improving user interfaces for more efficient process management. Advanced analytics and monitoring tools will not only improve control over operations, but also adapt systems to increase volumes and loads. Feedback from the first users will become the basis for constant improvements, which will ensure maximum efficiency of the complex.
"Within the framework of this project, we not only offer objective and professional guidelines for choosing systems, but also act as a leading IT partner, developing a strategy and contributing to further business growth. Thanks to high availability of business applications of the KONCRIT digital logistics platform and its use as a base for custom development, we guarantee implementation of the project in a short time, taking into account all the features of the largest logistics complex in Russia", – said Anton Okin, curator of the KORUS Consulting Group project.
"This project will be an important step in the development of Russia's logistics infrastructure and will create new opportunities for interaction with international partners. Together with KORUS Consulting, we are creating a unique system that meets high requirements of the market and will ensure required standard of automation and quality of service for customers for years to come", – explained Pavel Kaimanov, head of One Belt and One Road project.
